About

Mission Statement

To develop students’ 21st century skills and STEM content knowledge through the completion of authentic, student centered experiences such as capstone projects and internships.

Pathways

There are three primary pathways that students can follow as members of the STEM Academy.  They are Computer Science, Engineering, and Biotechnology.  While there are many other areas of STEM, these pathways are easily supported by traditional class offerings at Fossil Ridge.

Overview

Students are recruited through freshman science classes and invited to join.  If they accept the invitation, they take the 1 quarter STEM Survey class during sophomore year.  Those who decide to continue on will take the semester-long STEM Seminar class, where they will complete their capstone project.  Students may also complete an internship through the Poudre School District Work-Based Learning program at any point in their Academy experience.
